Silver Lining

I managed to save my trench coat from being taken to Maidstone by my sister. I remembered the images of the above woman and man taken by Scott Schuman who completely left me amazed; they inspired me to re-wear my trench and experiment looks with it.

Alexa Chung for Madewell

source: coutorture and refinery29.

I'm slightly surprised it took this long for somebody to ask Alexa Chung to design her own clothing and shoe range (I think). Apparently, it is going to be sold at affordable prices; her collection is very much her style, as for the looks they are not amazing but perfect for that casual, mundane, typical British spring day in which socks with heels could easily become something more beneficial than looking in-vogue.

I'm seriously on the hunt for a high-waisted black or brown leather belt; it's all I can think about.

Dirty Diana

Shoes designed by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for Elizabeth and James.

They are definitely shoes not to be walked in for long periods of time, but imagine that feeling when you look down at your feet to see them on you! Or is that just me? :)

Elie Saab f/w 09-10

It was love at first sight.

It's the colours and the mixture of power and female seduction. For instance, the green flowing dress has a neckline that doesn't completely make it strapless and the use of leather gloves.

You make me want one.

Not everyone can pull off hats flawlessly, but when they can you can tell. I think it's about finding a hat with the perfect fit.

I personally think older, maturer men tend to pull off hats better than younger men. I think it's because they wear it with a degree of formality, as they were intended to be worn, but younger guys nowadays wear them tilted, with skinny jeans and other fashion profanities that would leave Frank Sinatra rolling in his grave. It's actual odd to see a woman wear a hat formally, so we kind of have the better end of the deal.

COS

I really like their ss10 campaign images, pictured above, but their spring summer lookbook images for both men and women would put me off visiting the store. If you don't believe me check out their website here.

I really want a black, leather high-waisted belt; black because it goes with everything and I've got quite a few baggy clothes that would look perfect with a black belt.

I have to admit their ss10 campaign could be more accurately entitled "How to look formal in the summer." Though I'm not complaining; you should know by now that anything formal or sophisticated is okay with me, regardless of season.

define summer..

I'm going to try and not do floral this summer but it won't stop me admiring it.

Let's elope...

Which one would you go for? I'll have to get back to you on that question.

The tides are changing

Chanel has brought back clogs along with the help of No. 6 boots and Swedish Hasbeens. Along the celebrity angle; Agyness Deyn, Michelle Williams and Alexa Chung have been photographed perfectly parading their clog boots. It's only right that Topshop provides the masses the opportunity to help bring back clogs. I'm in love with the Topshop version of the ss10 Chanel clogs, which are incredibly high in my opinion, but it's got to be worth it, right?! The Topshop beauties are bound to sell out once they hit stores; more ss10 items here.

I've got blogging fever, I need to rest now. :)

Cup of Earl Grey tea, please.

Only just found out about a small boutique called Gabbages and Roses and I like the Middle England or classic British countryside style they've gone for. According to Mandarine d'Italie, all their garments are made/printed in England, and are hand made in small quantities in London and Wales. The above looks are from their fall/winter lookbook and you may view more images here.

I woke up to snow this morning which has gradually melted away, but I can't help but feel f/w 09 looks are more beneficial than s/s 10 looks. Yet I also feel obliged to brighten up my gloomy day with images of spring and summer which you partly get in this post.

Hope you all had a magical weekend! I got a letter on Friday that has made me more confident about getting a placement next year, and I spent so much time immersed in uni work that I turned down my friends to go out yesterday night, how dedicated am I? :)

I keep on running to you

Joel: I could die right now, Clem. I'm just... happy. I've never felt that before. I'm just exactly where I want to be.

Clementine: Joely?
Joel: Yeah Tangerine?
Clementine: Am I ugly?
Joel: Uh-uh.
Clementine: When I was a kid, I thought I was. I can't believe I'm crying already. Sometimes I think people don't understand how lonely it is to be a kid, like you don't matter. So, I'm eight, and I have these toys, these dolls. My favorite is this ugly girl doll who I call Clementine, and I keep yelling at her, "You can't be ugly! Be pretty!" It's weird, like if I can transform her, I would magically change, too.
Joel: [kisses Clementine] You're pretty.
Clementine: Joely, don't ever leave me.
Joel: You're pretty... you're pretty... pretty...

I can't sleep, I can't dream.

1. I wouldn't say her look was amazing, but I give her credit for making it look good.
2. I like her bag, shoes and the fact she is wearing a head band perfectly.
3. This look is starting to become a bit over done but I love how he has made it his own.
4. I love the colours and her coat.

Just found out that street style blogger, Yvan Rodic or Face Hunter has published his own book compiling images from his blog. I'm so happy I've yet to procrastinate on my work, these are my blogging breaks.

I'm going back to the start

My favourite striped top is salmon/white; I have many striped tops you see. :)

A ring I bought from a local jeweler which I'm planning to sell because it is too big; I loved it so much that I bought with a clip that makes it smaller and now that's broken it's dawned on me how ridiculous the idea of buying it was, but it was the smallest they had. It's real silver and is a size small/medium, anyone interested?

A new top from Zara that is amazing; it's grey and is longer at the back than at the front in a cool All Saints way.

I am completely addicted to chocolate chip muffins, this is my second one this week! I advise anyone who has a BB's store or a Muffin Break in their city to buy one, you'll never look back.

My weekend is going to be multi-tasking between eight pieces of coursework, but I'll try to enjoy it!

The line up

Looks from left to right: APC, Rag + Bone, Lover and Rag + Bone scanned by CharlottefromCA

I want the dress; I also copied the tying the trench back look, with my trench, and it works well particularly as my trench has somehow become slightly big on me.

Magnum opus: A great work.

Fendi you've finally captured my heart and taken it with you.

I couldn't wait to post these looks they were just too amazingly extravagant in a simple, fun way. I actually like everything in these looks from the shoes to the bags! If I had enough money to go off to an exclusive holiday resort for the obscenely rich, I would try and dress like this, haha!

I love how they've made all the earthly colours such as brown, green and yellow look so glamorous.

I'm off to make pancakes; it's pancake day :)

lets never part

I'm not like the other girls, I'll treat you better:
Suede Tote by Maison Martin Margiela
Western Buckle Wedge by Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony

I'm in love with the above two looks as well; I like the colours and the bags. the first look is from Fendi's s/s '10 collection which is beautiful in it's entirety, so will try and post. The second menswear look is taken from look du jour, where you can find out where each individual item is from.

milk chocolate thoughts

"We carry a curated collection of women’s clothing from contemporary designers that we admire. Emphasis on fit, quality, textiles, and design are important to us when deciding on what designers we include" in our store - about Domahoka, the boutique.

I really like how they pair garments together, taking inspiration from the high street and high end designers; I see Margaret Howell and Burberry Prorsum influences. I'd like to emulate some of these looks for this years spring/summer season.

My one big annoyance about the UK is that it's never quite warm enough to actually dress like this and when it is, it's a shock to the system and my wardrobe, that I end up looking like most people, as though I wasn't expecting any sun in the summer so I didn't stock up on any summer clothes.

To sir, your beauty is astounding.

Photographer: Jerome Jakubiec

The new Robert Patterson, Michael Gandolfi? The bottom two images are my favourite.

I personally don't find "perfect", pretty model looking guys to be anything special. I'm a Johnny Depp kind of person; they have to look intriguing, unbothered about their appearance and above all modest with any exceptional good looks or sense of style they possess.

Is it Friday already?

Source: cobrasnake

Yesterday night I went out and got back in for 4am and then woke up to go to a 9am seminar, my friends couldn't even stomach to go in when they started at 1pm, though when we went to a bar could Coco Lounge they drank far more cocktails than I could stomach including those cocktails with milk and creme that should come with a health warning.

Have a great weekend!

Music to start your weekend:

In memory you live on

"Clothes and jewellery should be startling, individual. When you see a woman in my clothes, you want to know more about them. To me that is what distinguishes good designer from bad designers."

I've never really fully grasped the genius that was and will always be Alexander McQueen, but I've equally never found it hard to appreciate and admire his work as a piece of art. At present, I don't feel in any way educated in his work or personal life to comment on either aspects, but what I can say is that he truly was loved within the fashion industry and clearly outside of those realms.

I never leave home without one.

Alexa Chung is officially living the life of her idol Jane Birkin; Alexa has a famous musician for a boyfriend just like Birkin did and has now got her very own bag entitled Alexa, created by Mulberry -the last image on the left.

The centre image is of Jane Birkin with her now iconic bag, the Birkin bag created by Hermès.

The first two bags are from the s/s 10 collection for Proenza Schouler, that I can only dream about owning, and I still want to be the proud owner of a Miu Miu clutch bag. The last image on the right is from Miu Miu's a/w 09 campaign.

SS10 Inspiration

Source: resis 1971, vogue and the guardian

This spring/summer is going to be about high-waisted, loose trousers or skirts with a simple belt, clutch bag and beautiful shoes. Quite a few designers are still holding on to the boyfriend blazer look, but for ss10 that blazer will be worn with shorts or a short high-waisted skirt but definitely without leggings or tights.

I'm enjoying the combinations of colours that have been put together; such as the use of electric blue against a subtle colour, or the use of a dark mustard colour with lilac; and I like the varying shades of netural colours.

Crème de la crème

My way of interpreting the Elizabeth Taylor quote above is that you are only as radiant as you think you are, and sometimes it's much easier to admire radiance in others than in ourselves.

I want to get my own Manhattan style apartment and buy a beautiful chair like the two above, and then design the whole flat in accordance to the decor of the chair. The first chair is from Anna Dello Russo's room at the Ritz and the second chair belongs to Olivia Palmero, which she was given as a house warming gift from an aunt.

Daydreamer

This image is a cropped image from an editorial spread in the March issue of UK Vogue. I really like the whimsical, dreamy Lula style spread of the entire editorial, but it was this image that caught my eye the longest; I think it's the gold silk bow.

You can view the entire image or the rest of the spread here.

I love the lookbook images for Olivia Rubin's ss10 collection. Rubin's dresses are simply beautiful, elegant and above all unique.

the sound of silence

"Fools" said I, "You do not know silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you, Take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell, and echoed in the wells of silence.

- Simon and Garfunkel

"I never stopped feeling,

even when you stopped calling."

- Coldplay lyrics next to image.

I long to reach for you

I bought a black silk top from Gap; it has a small, cute pocket which isn't very visible in the above image. It works well with my denim shorts with the studs on the pockets. The image with the polaroid picture is the beautiful work of Rodney Smith, taken from Veronica Slaney's blog.

I also bought a Chanel style jacket from Zara and I really like it. I plan to wear it casually like Alexa Chung does and formally like Olivia Palmero.
