It took my love to wreck it all.

"Being effortless is the coolest thing in the world." —Stella McCartney

He hasn't got a clue what he's doing to me.

Fashionable men can look like high maintenance depending on your preference on the degrees of fashionable a man can go. My preference is deemed as picky but I just don't like guys who wear nothing but Topman clothes; I don't like most male hipsters; I don't like skinny jeans on guys; I don't like guys who look like they've copied a celebrity (I see a lot of JLS lookalikes); I don't like guys who wear nothing but Jack Wills clothes...I could go on but I sound shallow! :) But, I like difference, originality; someone who will mix things up and not look like he's trying to impress anyone but himself: is that too much to ask for? Basically, most the men I find fashionably attractive tend to be a few years older than me and sometimes a lot older. I like Olivia Palmero's boyfriend's style and Brad Pitt's current style...

Tomorrow is a new you.

I think in today's world, the western world in particular, more and more people are striving for instant gratification; unwilling to work hard enough or suffer enough to defer their gratification. In doing so they end up settling for less, and for some, this realisation can hit them too late.

All is as thinking makes it so.

I really like the knee-high boots by Wood Wood and I like all the above looks (four images in colour) from their A/W 2012/13 collection.

I also really like the above images of the four men for Port Magazine's A/W 2012/13 issue: they look like writers or poets.

Life is profound.

I like the above looks from Lacoste's Pre-Fall collection. All the above looks are perfect stylish looks for the curent British weather; presuming that they all have umbrellas in their bags.

Favourite song at the moment: Foy Vance - Guiding Light.

Guiding light.

"We should not feel embarrassed by our difficulties, only by our failure to grow anything beautiful from them."

"What should worry us is not the number of people who oppose us, but how good their reasons are for doing so."

"To be shocked at how deeply rejection hurts is to ignore what acceptance involves."

I recently purchased The Consolations of Philosophy by Alain De Botton: hence the above quotes. There was a documentary by De Botton on this particular book on channel 4. I like how he makes ancient philosophy more relatable to present day society; and his books are always written in an easy, light-hearted and accessible way. The only other book I've read by him is How Proust Can Change Your Life: which was interesting. De Botton has just recently published a book entitled: Religion for Atheists (which is something I don't have any interest in reading since I don't consider myself to be an atheist). You maybe interested to know that on his Twitter page he writes interesting and inspiring short aphorisms.

It's all about you.

The beauty of the above quote is that it can relate to anything: your wardrobe; your love life; your work life etc.

The above collection is Sonia Rykiel's Pre-AW 12 collection. I really like the above two looks and I'm not even a fan of orange but I've been converted!

The woman on the left resembles Alexis Bledel: I like the simplicity of her look. I love the look on the right despite the fact it looks like she's wearing pajamas. :)

If you don't love me: pretend.

A possible new trend perhaps. The fashion collection the images on the right belong to MCQ
by Alexander McQueen's Pre-A/W 2012/13 collection.
I added the look with the white dress and the black belt because I like how simple yet perfect it is particularly how it focuses your attention on the belt. This look reflects a lot of the looks in the collection in terms of the Victorian style: I really like the simplicity and sophistication of this collection.

New You...

I've read that 2012 will be all about cropped jeans...

...argh! I want the above boots.

Complex mind: minimalist style.

I'm mesmerisied by the above looks for Helmut Lang's Resort 2012 collection; they're simply divine.

The above beautiful satchel is by Phillip Lim.

The January blues.

I know there's too much skin in the above images particularly the looks for Theyskens' Theory's Pre-fall collection, but I reallly like them and I think they would still look great with tights (and a scarf).

Laterly, I've been drawn to casual smart looks -I'm bored with trying.

To all my blog followers: I'm not a hardcore fashion follower (I don't follow trends or worship designers); I just appreciate the positive influence fashion has on my life. I'm one of those intellectual bores that takes life too seriously but sees fashion as a form of escapism. I don't blog to garner lots of blog followers but as a source of collecting and combining images together that inspire me hence the brevity of my blog post comments (minus this post).
