Fight Club is one of those great cult films that will withstand time.

The film that made me fall in love with Elizabeth Taylor was Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958); she's an amazing actress -I have to also credit Paul Newman (pictured above) and Burl Ives in the film.
I think it's very sad that she's died, but she lived a long life if you consider how much pain she spent most of her life in, from being married and divorced several times to the number of critical illnesses she was battling.
Anyone else have a favourite film starring Elizabeth Taylor, or Dame Taylor to be more precise?
Louis Garrel in Dans Paris
If you haven't seen this film you should watch it; it's loosely based on one of my new favourite books entitled Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger, which Garrel (my current favourite indie French actor) is reading in the middle image.
It's not a love story and Louis Garrel isn't even the main character but the film is really good in a funny, witty and captivating way. The book, as is always the case, is amazing and far superior to the film due to J.D. Salinger's beautiful and intellectually inspiring writing style. I've actually fallen in love with J.D. Salinger as an author that I've ordered two more books by him; one being connected to the story of Franny and Zooey -I can't wait for them to arrive.
I keep on running to you
Joel: I could die right now, Clem. I'm just... happy. I've never felt that before. I'm just exactly where I want to be.
Clementine: Joely?
Joel: Yeah Tangerine?
Clementine: Am I ugly?
Joel: Uh-uh.
Clementine: When I was a kid, I thought I was. I can't believe I'm crying already. Sometimes I think people don't understand how lonely it is to be a kid, like you don't matter. So, I'm eight, and I have these toys, these dolls. My favorite is this ugly girl doll who I call Clementine, and I keep yelling at her, "You can't be ugly! Be pretty!" It's weird, like if I can transform her, I would magically change, too.
Joel: [kisses Clementine] You're pretty.
Clementine: Joely, don't ever leave me.
Joel: You're pretty... you're pretty... pretty...

There is a film now out about Serge Gainsbourg entitled Gainsbourg (Vie Héroïque) it's definitely a film that I'm intrigued to watch, mostly to know the story behind one of France's most famous musicians, who captured the hearts of many. There is a major drawback for those of you, like me, who live in the UK or the US; there is no screening, so we'll just have to wait for it to come out on dvd.
Interesting and really tragic fact: The woman who plays Jane Birkin, Lucy Gordon, is English and could not speak French before the film; she got the role out of hundreds of women. The tragic element is that she ended her life before the release of the film.

The woman sitting on the piano in the first image is suppose to be Brigitte Bardot.
"I am a golden God!"

I've been hopelessly obsessed with this film, Almost Famous, ever since I saw it last year. I think I've now seen it around six times, and I can't get enough of it. I don't know where to start in explaining why I love this film so in short snippets; the acting, the music and the soul.

"Look at this: an entire generation of Cinderellas and there's no glass slipper. " - Elaine Miller

I watched New Moon, I think it was a huge improvement from the previous film, partly because there was more action scenes. I've never really liked the books, so I never expected to like the films either; which explains why I've got many criticisms about the film, for instance, why do people flinch or Bella care about Edward getting hurt when he can't even kill himself; his indestructible. Anyway, I do try and remind myself it is a teen romance novel, nothing serious; the funniest thing about the film was how much every male actor appeared to have jumped out from a Calvin Klein ad, much to the benefit of the female filled audience.
Fashions Evil Queen
My must-see-list of films is ever growing, and it doesn't help that I'm watching films not even on the list such as Wall-E which is heart achingly adorable and funny. However, this entry is dedicated to Ms. Wintour and her documentary feature film entilted 'The September Issue' which Time Magazine cleverly entitled 'The September Issue: Humanizing the Devil'. I have bumped this film up to the top of my must-see-list, but it hasn't even been released in the US (Sept 11th 09) let alone the UK! I have to also thank Mike, blogger of White Blank Page, for telling me about this film; I have to admit Mike is more fashion forward than me hence the knowledge of the above film.
Coco Chanel
Still lost in innoccence

I finally found out what this film is after months of forgetting to find out. The Edge of Love...thanks to sassafraschic. I really like the styling; it's casual yet fun. Kiera Knightley and Sienna Miller look really good.
Marie Antoinette

I still haven't watched the film, partly because I heard it wasn't that good, but the images are beautiful. I did a post on Atonement; that was a great film with beautiful images.

Atonement

I'm in love with this period in time in which the film is set, the Old English manor house style. I couldn't imagine anyone better than Kiera Knightley and James McAvoy, whose acting in The Last King of Scotland is amazing. I really liked the way in which al the actors and actresses were styled. The green dress, as pictured above, was mesmerising when it made it's first apperance on the film, I was literally thinking 'Kiera Knightley has a figure a lot of women would kill for' but can I just point out she is naturally thin and she used to despise her figure, but like any insecurity you should aim to see it's true beauty and enhance it rather than let it eat at you.
Unapologetically Yours

One of my new found favourite independent film actors, Louis Garrel. Garrel nearly always plays a chic affluent young French man, and his characters are always smoking, which I'm not sure reflects his real life, but he is definitely a chic affluent French man off-screen. He is Robert Patterson to the French and to me, his father is a well-known prestigious director in the independent French film world, which would explain why Garrel is an actor. I'm currently attempting to bid for a dvd in which he stars in, the film is called Ma mere and is a French film based on a George Bataille novel, that is posthumous and controversial. The first image is a still from the film, Frontier of Dawn, that has just been released, and I really want to watch it because it's in black and white, honestly.
