Her vs. Him

To the left: New Wave Women's Editorial. To the right: L'officiel Hommes Italia March 2012.

"Love is all there is, it makes the world go ’round. Love and only love, it can’t be denied. No matter what you think about it. You just won’t be able to do without it." -Bob Dylan

My look at the moment: the laid-back look.

It's not enough to want her.

+
Maybe it's because my life for the past few months has mainly consisted of dull colours but I like everything pictured above and I can't wait to have a glamorous, spontaneous fun night out: my life is just a bit too serious for my age! But, I guess it's all in preparation for landing the career job: the job that defines you, makes you or breaks you...

Her glamorous moment.

If you're going to dress up, why not go all the way and enjoy it?

I love these campaign images!

Image is everything.

Dress/smooth legs/metrosexual men.

Autumn and winter are the seasons when those in the know about fashion hit the gym solidly because they know spring and summer trends are all about showing off the body -I really like the above two Vogue covers.

Definition of metrosexual: An urban male with a strong aesthetic sense who spends a great deal of time and money on his appearance and lifestyle.

There is only one type of man that intrigues and mystifies me, and that is the metrosexual man. Unlike other men in the summer, they do a lot more with their style than just wearing a variant array of t-shirts with shorts. Though I have to admit, my intrigue with metrosexual men is only at a fashion level and no more.

November.

I like the above images from Vogue Russia's Nov 2010 issue; the editorial is quite British, it slightly reminds me of Topshop.

View the entire editorial HERE.

Just found out that Nouvelle Vague are on tour in the UK!

Channeling Chanel.

Hamish Bowles's apartment is fashion splendid as is the man himself.

The first model image is of Charlotte Kemp Muhl; I think the image perfectly goes with the Parisian/Coco Chanel influences in this post.

I love the image of Sasha Pivoarova taken from Vogue US Nov 2010; her refined and sleek look is definitely Coco Chanel, and I actually like the haircut but just in this particular image.

.I can't give it up.

I would like a jumper like the one from Monki; I like my pockets.

The ultimate of all ultimate jumpers is the amazing light beige one pictured at the top on the right; I also like how the model's wears it in a boyish way. Chanel Iman's jumper is technically a coat but it still looks amazing especially with the red gloves.

Whilst wishing for items, I would purchase the above Carin Wester boots from Urban Outfitters and wear it with the jumper from Monki (or the beige one) -I wouldn't care what I wore underneath.

I'm really liking this song: The XX - Infinity

"I have not spoken my last word about women. I believe that if a woman succeeds in withdrawing from the mass, or rather raising herself above the mass, she grows ceaselessly and more than a man." - Arthur Schopenhauer, German philosopher.

Every woman needs at least one pair of ridiculously high heels? :)

The line up

Looks from left to right: APC, Rag + Bone, Lover and Rag + Bone scanned by CharlottefromCA

I want the dress; I also copied the tying the trench back look, with my trench, and it works well particularly as my trench has somehow become slightly big on me.

lets never part

I'm not like the other girls, I'll treat you better:
Suede Tote by Maison Martin Margiela
Western Buckle Wedge by Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony

I'm in love with the above two looks as well; I like the colours and the bags. the first look is from Fendi's s/s '10 collection which is beautiful in it's entirety, so will try and post. The second menswear look is taken from look du jour, where you can find out where each individual item is from.

H&M Spring

My favourite from the above has to be the collarless jacket with the double zips. I'm really not sure about the black collarless blazer, but I do like how different it is.

I don't have enough warm clothes to cover this extremely cold climate I'm currently living in; my toes are currently cold. :/

Albert Hammond Jr. Pour Confederacy

I was completely shocked when I found out that Albert Hammond Jr. had a suit line out and I had not heard about. Fortunately for me, it has only been out since October 2009 so the lookbook images are online and so are the suits, as pictured above. The suits are beautifully tailored for a reasonably slim male figure. I'm currently mesmerised by the small detail to the suits; such as the waist band on the blazer, the ankle cut trousers and how the trousers sit on the waist perfectly; I also really like the female touch to the waistcoats. I've  posted a few snippets of an interview with Hammond Jr. about the line that I thought you may be interested to know, I know I was. You can also read the full interview, here.

Why did you decide to do the collection?
Two reasons really—one, I wanted some suits for myself, and two, every time there’s something written about me it always says something about a suit, and people always ask me “Where do you get your suits?” It was getting ridiculous.

What did you have in mind before you started designing?
First off I wanted to make a classic suit that you can wear anywhere—that you can wear out on a Sunday with the vest and everything. And then I wanted a casual one that you can wear with a T-shirt.

Have you ever had a stylist?
No, no I’ve never had a stylist. Actually, there was one stylist who came up to me and said “Don’t ever let a stylist dress you,” and I was like, okay, deal.

Do you follow fashion in the traditional sense?
Not at all. I know absolutely nothing, that’s the funny thing.

H&M

Top row: Styleseeking Zurich, Carolines mode and unknown; bottom row: the selby and neon signs of happiness.

I'm surprised not a lot of bloggers have posted or made any comment about the Sonia Rykiel collection for H&M, which is apparently suppose to be in stores as of today. I think this collaboration is a lot better than that of the Matthew Williamson line. When I first saw it, I instantly thought of the glamourous 1950s era where the likes of Marilyn Monroe were icons to many women, and I like how Sonia Rykiel have brought this look back to life but in a modern way; by the visible stitching, the zips and the fabric.

The two pairs of shoes next to the adorable kitten are taken from H&M's 2010 spring line, and considering I'm not an open toe shoe person, I'm surprised I actually like them; though on photo is something else to in reality.

Reiss

I think the above looks are a great summary of the a/w 09 line for women at the high-end high street labels. The big furry coat with a belt around for femininity, the top tucked into trousers for the formal yet sociable look and the masculinity of a tailored coat/blazer contrasting with heels. I'm sorry, but I've already been sold by all the above looks, so I would do a post about them. I'm currently in search for the perfect formal bag and clutch bag, I really like the clutch bag in the top right hand image, or you can view it here.

More Fall looks

I can definitely see myself reinterpreting some of the above looks. I can't remember whose lookbook they are from, which is actually quite bad. What I can say is the designer(s) are not very well known.

Scroll.

H&M's fall and winter campaign; how cool is the above image scroll by H&M? It has leaves falling and if you go on the actual webpage, the models hair and clothing items are blowing in the "wind"!! Haha...anyway I have to say the styling isn't too bad for a high street brand. I really like their mens line, but it somehow reminds me of Justin Bobby from The Hills. I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

Oh, anyone a fan of ASOS.com? You can get 10% off all outlet items from now till the 14th of September, or you need to do is enter OUTLET at the checkout point.

Finishing School

What makes fashion amazing is how it can reinvigorate and reinvent traditional, classic looks. It is this element of fashion that keeps its' very nature alive and viable to the modern male and female 'dandy'. The above looks are from Rag & Bone's a/w 09 collection, for the women's line there is a subtle androgynous feel to the looks, which compliments the formal, refined look of women from finishing schools i.e. image one. In the mens wear line, I like the use of rope as a necklace which cleverly ties up the whole look of the mixture of casual outerwear and formal wear. I have to also state that my main inspiration for this post was an interesting article in Vanity Fair  about Miss Porter's School.
